My professional experience
I’m a senior UX writer and digital copywriter with over 13 years of experience in the content strategy, digital writing, and product delivery space. I enjoy identifying and communicating meaningful stories, finding solutions that meet the needs of the business and the customers, and helping teams craft compelling and enriching experiences. I’ve worked in the automotive, financial, telecom, education, and retail sectors in offices around London, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I currently work and reside in Johannesburg, and occasionally Limpopo.
My journey into content design
My passion for writing started when I was very young, I used to edit birthday cards (that were for me) if I found a mistake. I grew up on a farm and had nothing but books and animals for entertainment. That nurtured a desire to create stories that would make people listen, which later translated into crafting compelling user experiences. I've honed my skills through diverse projects, always looking for ways to deliver content that captivates and inspires, but is also easily understood.
What I've been working on
Lately, my focus has been on creating intuitive user experiences through the design and refinement of chatbots. I've also written comprehensive style guides and tone of voice frameworks that help all areas of the business understand why we write like we do for chatbots, as it's very different to normal bank jargon and tone. We're always iterating and refining responses to enhance user journeys, as user testing often reveals how much people struggle with digital banking and all its complexities.
What I'm curious about
Where AI will take us in the next 5 years and beyond! I'm excited to see how AI can help us move the customer experience to the next level and what jobs it will help create that don't exist today. While I think AI is a great tool, I don't think it'll ever replace the storytelling and creative abilities that we humans possess.
A bit about me
I recently became a dogfluencer! Never in a million years did I think I'd start social media pages for my dog, but here we are. It turns out, people like to see a dog that flies in helicopters and races hyenas.
I usually spend my weekends at a rhino sanctuary. Explaining to an insurance company that you need a panel beater because a rhino used your car as scratching post is an interesting experience.
My dream is to one day volunteer at a sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. My favourite food is anything seafood. I can sabrage Champagne/MCC and I love hiking, reading, and gardening.
